Professor Ksenija Dumičić, PhD

Ksenija Dumičić, PhD, is Full Professor Tenured, employed at Department of Statistics, University of Zagreb Faculty of Economics & Business (FEB), where she gained her PhD degree in Social Sciences, Humanities and Theology in the field of Economy. She has been teaching survey sampling research methods, business and economic statistic, quantitative methods and statistical quality control. Since 2006-2008 and 2008-2010, she was Head of Department of Statistics at FEB. Since its foundation in 2007, she has been Leader of the postgraduate professional study „Statistical methods in economic analysis and forecasting“, the first such a programe in Croatia.

In 2002 she completed “Sampling Program for Survey Statisticians” at Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA (Leslie Kish International Fellowship Award), and the „Training of European Statisticians” (TES) program at University of Southampton, UK. She was leading number of projects granted by Croatian science institutions.

She has been Sampling Consultant at several European Commission projects, IPA, PHARE and SIDA, Consultant at the World Bank granted project "Statistical Master Plan for the Republic of Croatia", Sampling Consultant at the World Health Organization granted project „MICS- Multi-indicator Survey in Croatia – Research into Parental Knowledge and Behaviour Concerning Children’s Health and Nutrition“ for UNICEF. Since 2015 to 2019 she has been President of Croatian Statistical Association (CSA), being one of its founders.

She was appointed the Elected Member of International Statistical Institute, the member of ISI Committee for Women in Statistics (CW-ISI, being since 2017 also the CW-ISI Management Committee member, representing Europe), ISI International Association for Statistical Education (IASE), ISI International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS). She is Regular Member of Royal Statistical Society (RSS), American Statistical Association (ASA), American Society for Quality (ASQ)and ASQ Statistical Division.

She has been Advisory Board member at Balkan Economic Forum (BEF) and has been available as a DevelopmentAid Expert. In 2017-2019, she was the Board member of the European Courses in Advanced Statistics (ECAS) at Fedearation of European Statistical Societies (FENStatS). Since 2016, as General Chair, with the CSA members, she co-founded the biannual series of International Statistical Conferences in Croatia (ISCCRO, for 2016 and 2018). In 2015, being one of Editors-in-Chief, she co-founded the first Croatian statistical journal Croatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics (CREBSS). She has been Editorial Bord member for: Zbornik Ekonomskog fakulteta u Zagrebu, Zagreb, Croatia, since 2003; Proceedings of International Symposium on Operations Research in Slovenia (SOR), since 2015; Croatian Operational Research Review (CRORR), since 2015; and in 2010, she was the Organizational Committee President for Croatia at the Project of writing International Encyclopedia of Statistical Science (later published with M. Lovric, Editor-in-Chief), by Springer.

She has been lecturing statistical research and quantitative courses at postgraduate and doctoral level in Croatia, Slovenia and B&H, where she supervised 10 doctoral students, and co-operated with Doctoral Defense Committees in B&H, North Macedonia and Slovenia. Since 2016, she has been member of Young Statisticians Meeting (YSM) IPC, for youngsters from Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy and Slovenia; Sci. Committee member for International Balkan and Near Eastern Social Sciences Conference Series (IBANESS Conference Series), IPC member at: International Symposium on Operations Research, Slovenia; International scientific conference “Knowledge and Business Challenge of Globalisation", Faculty of Commercial and Business Sciences, Celje, Slovenia; Conferences AUEIRC, Dubai (UAE); Economic and Social Development - ESD Conferences; Special Session K-BioS at icSPORTS Conferences in 2018 and 2019; Global Conference on Business, Hospitality and Tourism Research (GLOSEARCH 2018), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and „New Challenges in Economic and Business Development – 2019“ Conference, at Faculty of Business, Management and Economics, University of Latvia, Riga, Latvia. In 2017- 2019 she has been nominated the Jury Committee Member and Ambassador of Statistical Olympics within the European Commission granted project ''Support for statistical literacy actions in the area of a competition, gamification, e-learning'', conducted by Croatian Bureau of Statistics. She was editor and reviewer for number of scientific journals and conferences and published more than 190 papers, in many journals indexed in relevant scientific bases (WoS, Scopus, CC, EconLit, etc.), 12 book chapters and four textbooks. She actively attended over 80 international scientific conferences, many times being the conference IPC and OC member, chair, discussant, panelist, Special Session organizer and Invited Session Speaker (in 2018- ICOTS10, Kyoto, Japan; and in 2019- ISI-WSC2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia); Special Session Chair at World Statistics Congress ISI-WSC2019, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Invited Speaker at Statistical Society of Vojvodina, Faculty of Science, Novi Sad, Serbia; or Plenary Speaker (ICOS2017, Sarajevo, B&H).
